I have wonderful news - Clarion’s strong programs in Speech Pathology and Audiology celebrated 50 years young in 2017-18. The facility in Keeling is now fully occupied by the Speech Pathology and Audiology programs. Clarion’s program continues to be highly marketable with high job placement upon graduation.

You may remember some of your past professors who are currently teaching in our department, including:  MaryPat McCarthy, Kenneth Staub, Natalie Armstrong, Kristina Dworek, and Stacey Hall and our newest faculty member, Melissa Brydon.  Though Colleen McAleer recently retired, she is still an amazing volunteer in helping out with whatever the program needs. I am happy to send you their greetings! Our current faculty want to ensure that Clarion is a strong choice for students and are working diligently to provide facilities that are up to date both in space and technology.

The department is reaching out now for a very special reason. Our Speech and Hearing Clinic, for the last 20 years, has used a closed circuit television monitoring system. The current system has reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced and updated to a digital system to allow video and audio monitoring as well as recording of clinical sessions.  This would require an upgrade of the current clinical central monitoring room and ensuring that video/sound monitoring systems in each of the clinic’s therapy rooms are functional.

The new system will allow multiple clinical sessions to be observed, recorded and digitally stored on a central server to enable sessions to be quickly retrieved for follow-up clinical analysis and/or classroom demonstration to teach an entire class about various types of communication disorders. Our new technology will also allow us to meet an upcoming certification standard which must be met by 2020 in the area of clinical supervision by streamlining the supervisory process in the lab.

We need your help to complete this project, and I want to stress that gifts of all sizes will impact student success and the future of our program.

Thank you! You are making a difference and we greatly appreciate you!

We also appreciate you sharing this transformative campaign with other Clarion alumni and friends!
